Evaluating our Future
In past months the Building Committee has been assessing the future needs of the congregation. We have been trying to figure out the best way to provide three basic needs of the congregation. #1. We have several of our classes that have grown to max out their classrooms. There is really no convenient space to start new classrooms and we can’t make the present classrooms bigger. #2. There is a need for us to have a multi-use room on the ground floor. All ages have a need and outreach into the community is enhanced when we are able to fully serve their needs. The space in the basement is both inconvenient and too small for our present needs, much less as God continues the growth. #3. Parking is getting maxed out and there are few options for further expansion. There has been at least four different options proposed in the past to deal with these issues. Now is the time we will need to get direction from the congregation as to which way to travel.
Each of these options has pros and cons, the third idea has already been suggested to the congregation and it was decided that we did not want to go that way. But we need to have the congregation’s will known before we proceed with any plan.
- Do nothing.
- Add on a multi-use room, plus classrooms
- Change the Sanctuary into a multi-use room.
- Move the congregation
We were presented with an opportunity to check out the last option, moving to a new location into an existing building. We went to a meeting at this new location at 7315 W. 13th, on Sunday, May 3, at 3:00 pm. and toured the facility and then had a meeting to find out more. Click here to see the pictures taken during the tour. Then, on May 17th, following the Worship Service, we will have a short meeting to get your thoughts on the direction we should go. Those meetings are not to make a decision but are a fact finding process of the Building Committee. Your input will be appreciated.
