Put your top three to five hymns (please refrain from the choruses--that would be another thread)...

Personally, I will have a hard time whittling down my list to five...

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Paul

There are so many hymns to like, I've always had a few that real touch my heart.

Amazing Grace
The Old Rugged Cross
As a Deer
Breathe
Broken & Spilled Out
Learning To Lean

I'm not real sure about number 5 being the title but I know it's in the song and it was done by Steve Green I think.

Heb 2:12
12 saying, "I will proclaim Thy name to My brethren, in the midst of the congregation I will sing Thy praise."
(NAS)

I know that the different hymns have different meanings for different people. My top five (at least at this moment in time) are:

Farther Along (also one of my grandmother's favorites and a song I was asked to sing at my great aunt's funeral)

Be Thou My Vision (Gaelic and English both--something about the song just gets to me)

O Come, O Come Emanuel (I SOOOOO prefer the Latin to the English on this Christmas call)

An Empty Mansion (another of the family's favorites)

It is Well with My Soul

Of course, there are a whole lot of contemporary pieces that I enjoy, many from both the spiritual and the musical perspectives, but I restricted myself to hymns.
